Argelès sur mer
Argelès sur mer Argelès sur mer is the name of a coast town situated in the south of France, on the mediterranean sea. It's the perfect spot for great vacation. Argelès population in the winter is about 10.000 people, while during summer months goes up to 300.000. Argeles is the campsite capital of Europe, there is a lot of green and people enjoy a laid back holiday. Everything is planned for a maximum fun, so you can enjoy your shopping in local little shops or the traditional village market. In the Argeles plage section of the town there is a big concetration of shops, restaurants and children attractions, so innevitably you'll find yourself and your family strolling the Allée Jules Arolles having an ice cream after the beach session!
Once you are safely tacked in your campsite it's time to discover the best spots of the area. Don't go far, the beach is the best place to be during the summer months. The sandy beach stretches 7 km where it meats the Pyrennees mountains. You can start to the north side of the beach, where you can enjoy swimming, wind-surfing, snorkeling with your family and friends. All along the beach there are beach clubs for your leisure time. Sun beds, nice food and drinks available on the beach. Be warned, you might never want to leave Argeles!
For the ones who want to discover further, i recommend a drive to the mountain side of the area, direction Font Romeu, Cerdagne. Already in Villefranche de Conflent you'll find yourself in a different setting, higher altitude, fortifications, rich forest on the Pyrennees foothills. Once you arrive to Cerdagne, which is name of the french area just before the spanish-french frontier, you'll be breath taken. It's a beautiful altiplane where you feel all the strength of the peaceful Pyrennees mountains. |
